COC 1 - Install and Configure a Computer System (Disassemble/ Assemble Desktop Computer)

Before engaging to this task, one must know all the hazards that might encountered in doing this activity. These are but not limited to physical, electrical, mechanical, chemical and crt hazards. To avoid these kinds of hazard we need to eliminate them by preventive maintenance. Preventive maintenance (PM) is a systematic method where we clean, maintain and remove all hazards inside or outside the computer laboratory or workplace.
As part of Computer System Servicing NC2, learners must be aware of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE). PPE are equipments which we can use to limit the accident of hazard while accomplishing task. These are but not limited to face mask, goggles, apron, rubber sole boots, hard helmet/hat, gloves etc.

To conduct the assembly and disassembly of computer parts, one must have the following materials.


  • Philips Head Screwdriver - to remove all screws
  • Anti-static wrist strap - To avoid electro static discharge
  • Compressed air - to remove dust from narrow parts of computer
  • Vacuum - to easily remove dust on the computer
  • Paint brush - to clean the motherboard and other parts
